Quintero is a trip-hop/downtempo quartet based in Philadelphia. Quintero’s members have roots in Colombia, England, Canada, and the States. This broad musical knowledge helps to give Quintero its unique cosmopolitan feel. They provide a dynamic live experience, blending electronica, jazz, and pop. Listeners may recognize a Bristol-sound influence in Quintero’s music, yet  they represent a fresh addition to the budding trip-hop/downtempo scene in Philly. The Forbidden World, Quintero’s debut LP, was independently released in May.

Quintero has played at the Rotunda and World Caf é Live, two prime venues in Philadelphia. The band has played at PhilaFunk and in Philly’s Love Park as part of the Philadelphia Song Research concert series. They’ve also participated in BreastFest, a breast cancer fund-raising concert in Haddonfield, New Jersey. In July, Quintero was invited to showcase their sound at TripnoticaNYC, a monthly arts and music show in New York City.

Quintero has most recently brought their sound to western Pennsylvania with  shows in Pittsburgh.
In their previous shows,  Quintero has played with solo artists such as Natalie Walker, April Smith, and Costanza, Tricky’s vocalist. Quintero has shared the stage with bands like Mudville, Gemini Wolf,  Decoi, Omega Love, and Puracane.

The Forbidden World, displays  a purer downtempo/trip-hop sound. The record was  written, recorded,  produced, and mixed by the two founding members of Quintero: Ish Quintero and Bevin Caulfield. The band’s live sound includes more two more members , Matt Bell and Dan Putrino, to give their music a jazzier feel, with drum-and-bass influence.
